Allendale

Allendale is a residential community nestled in the Southwest section of Edmonton. This mature community is predominately occupied by single family residence ,that is experiencing plenty of redevelopment and revitalization through infill properties. Originally the section of land was owned by a family of farmers the "Allendale's". Allendale became a part of Edmonton in the early 1900's when Edmonton, and Strathcona united to form one community. Many of the residence are post World War II bungalows that are transitioning to modern infill properties with 2 storey homes and duplexes. The neighbourhood features a community garden, hall, and rink at the "Allendale Community League". The community league hosts events, fitness, and recreational activities for the residents. There is one junior high school located within the community "Allendale School" that provides educational  programs through Edmonton Public Schools. The residents of this community enjoy the mature location, while having close access to many amenities including Whyte Avenue - Shopping, dining, entertainment, Southgate Mall - shopping, LRT access, and is relatively close the University of Alberta Hospital.
